Force Power: Psychometry


Psychometry is the Force ability of acquiring information about people or events associated with an object solely by touching it. Whoever used thas ability receives input from sight, sound, and emotions. However, the Jedi Order did not approve of their members using psychometry to handle weapons of violence. The Order feared that, as the wielder’s emotions could be sensed, the Jedi using his psychometric skill could be exposed to the dark side of the Force.

This power allows the user to view events as if they were there, including the sights, sounds, and feelings, both emotional and physical, that the wielder of the object experienced. This power is easier to use on personal objects that were used frequently. Objects that were used once or by several people often make the use of this power difficult, though it is still possible. This skill is useful for tracking though it is not useful in open battle and will fail to render useful information at times.

BASIC POWER

At its most basic, Psychometry allows a Force user to make physical contact with an item and recall emotional impressions left upon it by its owner or most recent user. (Treat as Engaged range.)

The user may spend to gain a sense of the emotional state of the object’s user during its most recent use, up to one day in the past.

CONTROL UPGRADE

The user can perceive images of the events surrounding the object’s use. The user may not activate this more than once.

CONTROL UPGRADE

The user can perceive sounds of the events surrounding the object’s use. The user may not activate this more than once.

MAGNITUDE UPGRADE

Spend to enable the user to perceive feelings or events regarding the object up to one week in the past. The user may not activate this more than once.

MAGNITUDE UPGRADE

Spend to enable the user to perceive feelings or events regarding the object up to one month in the past. The user may not activate this more than once.

MAGNITUDE UPGRADE

Spend to enable the user to perceive feelings or events regarding the object up to one year in the past. The user may not activate this more than once.

MAGNITUDE UPGRADE

Spend to enable the user to perceive feelings or events regarding the object up to one decade in the past. The user may not activate this more than once.

MAGNITUDE UPGRADE

Spend to enable the user to perceive feelings or events regarding the object up to one century in the past. The user may not activate this more than once.

MASTERY UPGRADE

The user can perceive a full sensory illusion of events surrounding the object’s use throughout its lifetime. The user may choose to focus in on a particular moment in the object’s lifetime. The experience of these events are so immersive that the user may feel as if he is actually present.

RANGE UPGRADE

Spend to enable the user to perceive details about feelings or events regarding the object up to an additional range band per rank of Range upgrade purchased. The user may activate this multiple times, increasing the range by this number each time.

    The range upgrade doesn’t make much sense when there is no fixed range established with the base power. Also the mastery and both control’s are not connected to the rest of the tree.

    I am going to second the range comment. I would probably put in a tactile component to the visions seen, allowing a more interactive aspect to it.
