Ciddarin “Cid” Scaleback

Ciddarin Scaleback, nicknamed “Cid,” was a Trandoshan female information broker, smuggler, and businesswoman whose career in the galactic underworld spanned from the Galactic Republic Era into the Imperial Era. For years, Scaleback manned a parlor on Ord Mantell from which she ran her mercenary operations, sending mercenaries on high-stakes missions to meet with her numerous contacts across the galaxy, including the Jedi Order. Opportunistic and no-nonsense, Scaleback gained a reputation for usefulness but was also someone not to cross due to her repeated failures to reciprocate loyalty, which ruined relationships with the likes of Grini Millegi. Her relationship with the Jedi lasted through the pan-galactic Clone Wars, which ended in the Republic’s reorganization as the Galactic Empire. Demands for Scaleback’s services subsequently fell, forcing her to focus on more lucrative assignments in order to protect herself in the face of the new government.

Early into the Empire’s reign, Scaleback met the special clone squad Bad Batch, fleeing the Empire after defecting and escaping Imperial custody. In exchange for intel on bounty hunter Fennec Shand, Scaleback had the Batch complete a mercenary mission to rescue Jabba the Hutt’s rancor Muchi. Afterwards, Scaleback and the Batch formed a working relationship, with the Batch serving as mercenaries for Scalback. Oftentimes, however, when Scaleback sent them on a mission, the Batch would abandon it to join the growing resistance against the Empire, resulting in numerous insurgencies against the government in which Scaleback had no involvement. At the same time, however, the Batch aided Scaleback when she needed it most, including when Isa Durand’s son, Roland, took over her parlor and when she did not have the credits to repay Millegi after losing a bet to him. Scaleback’s repeated failures to reciprocate the Batch’s loyalty destroyed their relationship, and when she refused to help them when a mission she assigned them went awry, the Batch abruptly cut ties with her and joined forces with Phee Genoa, a pirate associate of Scaleback’s. However, when the Batch returned to her parlor, having barely escaped the Empire and having lost Tech, Scaleback contacted the Empire and informed them of the remaining Batch’s location, being rewarded with some credits while fleeing Ord Mantell. However, she was tracked down by CX-2 and informed him of the Batch’s affiliation with Genoa, allowing the Clone X trooper to trace Genoa and the Batch to the island Pabu.
