CT-900 freighter

The CT-900 was designed to allow for the ultimate in customization, both from a practical and marketing standpoint. The base cockpit module was inexpensive, and featured a modest cargo capacity. However, to be truly effective, purchase of one or more of the additional, “optional” modules was all but necessary. This meant that, at the end of the day, a CT-900’s final cost was comparable with other, similar standardized ships.

A unique feature of the CT-900’s modular nature was that, while there were “suggested configurations” for use of the modules, the ship could ultimately be reconfigured into different forms by creative application of the modules. The broad nature of this customization meant that the CT-900 could be made to suit most tasks, from straight cargo hauling, to deep space salvage. But, it also had the effect of never quite being ideal for a particular purpose. The CT-900 lasted a comparatively short time on the market before being discontinued. While some can still be found in operation, by the time of the Galactic Civil War, it was already considered n antique ship that had not been seen since the Clone Wars.

One known CT-900 freighter was the StarScavenger, the starship and transport of the Freemakers, a family of scavengers who lived during the Galactic Civil War. Zander Freemaker managed to keep the StarScavenger operational by modifying the ship with spare parts.
